Player. Dostoevsky F.
The novel “Player” occupies a special place in the work of F. M. Dostoevsky - Autobiographical motifs are exclusively strong in it: a long -term fascination with the writer by playing the roulette and complex, painful relationships with A.P. Suslova. The idea of the “player” arose back in 1863 in the fall of 1865, experiencing financial difficulties, Dostoevsky dictated the text of the novel by his stenographer A. G. Snitkin in just 26 days (which later became his wife). According to her memoirs, when the fate of the heroes were discussed in the process of working on the novel, “Fedor Mikhailovich was quite on the side of the“ player ”and said that he experienced a lot of his feelings and impressions on himself. He assured that one could have a strong character, to prove this with his life and nevertheless not to have the strength to overcome the passion for a roulette game. ”
