Postmodernism in architecture. Jenks Ch.
Developing and systematizing for more than thirty years his views on postmodern architecture, an influential British architecture theorist Charles Jenx (1939–2019) created a unique text saturated with conceptual, biographical, illustrative material. Here is the translation of the expanded version of the seventh edition of the “Language of Architecture of postmodernism”, where the genesis of the new architectural paradigm is presented in full, from the first experiments of the double coding of Yorn in the Sydney Opera building to the installations of the Chinese artist Ai Wevevei. Jenx proves the ubiquity of the spread of postmodernism in all regions of the world, speaks of his colleagues and friends - Robert Venturi, James Steirling, Aldo Rossi, Ricardo Bofille, Daniele Libeskinda and others, analyzes their views and work. Postmodernism is connected for it not only using the methods of computer modeling of the form, but also taking into account the reactions of the addressee of architecture, contextuality, diversity, involvement in design. Such, perhaps, a somewhat expanding interpretation leads to the reader of the architectural process of the border of the XX - XXI centuries and invites to discussion.
