Praise of stupidity. Rotterdam erazm
Praise of stupidity can be called the “International Superbestseller of the Renaissance”, because immediately after the first publication in Paris in 1511, she withstood only 7 reprints in France, and was reprinted in different countries during the author’s life more than 40 times. Erasmus himself, who considered his sparkling satire to be no more than a funny literary trifle in shape and content, was a lot amazed by such a loud success. In the work of the main character built in the form of a monologue, Moria (stupidity) acts, revealing his secrets to the reader, listing the merits, praising himself and, most importantly, mocking many “sages”. In reasoning about her mission, it affects the issues of art, culture, structure of society and many others.
