The book presents biographical essays about scientists and statesmen who headed the Academy of Sciences in Russia, starting from the moment of its founding to this day. Over the years, the presidents of the Academy were outstanding representatives of their era, people of huge talent, and true patriots of Russia. Their lives and labor were devoted not only to scientific research, but also to the arrangement, strengthening and comprehensive development of the Academy as a scientific institution and the progress of Russian science as a whole. Under their leadership, the composition of the Academy of Sciences was formed, its members became outstanding scientists with a world-famous name, whose studies contributed to the emergence of promising scientific schools and unique areas.

The publication was prepared by the author’s team of historians and timed to the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
