Young Lev Tolstoy was accidentally in the Caucasus, but he experienced all the dangers of a military Caucasian life. So the Caucasian period became one of the main in life for the writer. Here he first participated in the raid of pride, received his first military experience and first saw how fragile the life of a person was and the war is not fair, which was certainly reflected in the thoughts of the war in the “war and the world”. It was in the Caucasus that Lev Tolstoy wrote his first story “RAST” and immediately declared himself as a writer with a great future. Then he learned about the history of Haji Murat, but he finished the story of this hero only in the 1900s, but did not allow to publish.
