Ascending our prayers, we must, without doubt, be sure that they are pleasant to the Lord, and he will receive them as a sacrifice that will benefitly affect the state of the soul of the deceased. We must not forget the deceased, for they are our brethren in spirit and flesh, which now live in another world and expect prayer help from us. If the abyss in which the souls of the deceased were now opened before us, then we could see the touching picture of their silent prayer to the living members of the Church of Christ - the pleas that we help them with our prayers.
