Georgy Ivanovich Shilin (1896–1938) - Soviet prose writer, participant in the First World War. His first book was positively appreciated by Maxim Gorky, the heyday of creativity fell in the 20-30s of the last century, then the author was forgotten for a long time.

The most famous novel by Georgy Schilin-“lepers”. To plunge into the study of the struggle with the leprosy, with this terrible and mythologized ailment, the writer forced the writer: having arrived for a while in his hometown, Shilin wanted to visit an old friend, but he found out that he was sick and placed in a leprosy. So the writer for the first time ended up at the “sick court” and lived for several days among the lepers. Subsequently, Shilin repeatedly visited the leprosoria in different cities of the USSR, and also studied affordable medical literature for his novel, consulted with prominent specialists and even participated in the work of the congress of lists of lists.

In addition to a serious scientific base, the novel stands out with bright , the living characters of his heroes: patients, whose public life broke off, although physically they continue their existence, often without hope to ever leave the leprosorius; doctors who are selflessly devoted to science and their work, refusing to graze in front of one of the oldest diseases, known to a person.
