The second edition of Elena Savitskaya’s book “Progressive: Heroes and Fate”, first published in 2015 and almost immediately became a rarity, is published by numerous readers' requests. The book is dedicated to one of the most interesting areas of rock music of the 1960-2000s-progressive rock. In the focus of attention, on the one hand, historical-style surveys, attempts to understand the intricacies of numerous varieties of progressive rock, consider the features of expressive means, principles of form formation and dramaturgy; On the other hand, the portrait essays of some of its representatives, founding groups and “successors”, characterized by “faces with an incomprehensible expression” and convincing artistic achievements. In the second edition, some concepts are clarified, the historical and cultural context has been expanded, added on the modern material of the history of groups.
