The plot of a new story by the famous American writer Kate Dikamillo sends the reader during the Middle Ages. According to the long -standing prophecy, a girl who will overthrow the king will once come into the world and change everything. But who is this girl? Is it really a little Beatrice, whom the monk Edik found sleeping in a stable in a hug with a goat demon? Beatrice, accompanied by his brother Edik and the goat, who became her guardian angel, fearlessly goes to the Samoznan king, who gave the order to kill her. Along the way, they meet new friends - the orphan, Jack Dori and hermit Kannok, who was involved in Beatris's mysterious past. The girl is not afraid of the dangers awaiting her, because she believes that those who love her will be able to become her protection.

The story of Kate Dikmillo, based on medieval legends, is full of elusive memories, mystical dreams and forebodings, some kind of that’s lack of charge, and all this is magically intertwined into an amazing parable about the fate, love and power of the words that are able to cultivate the world.
