Psalter and prayers for the deceased
The Holy Church continues to consider the deceased by the same members as the living, and recognizes the prayer for the dead as a way of communicating living and dead and as a matter of love - an everlasting, indifferent duty of the living. The Church does not omit a single case where and when you can commemorate the deceased, and introduces this commemoration into both public and private services, as well as in home prayer. To help the Orthodox Christians in the performance of prayer duty to the dead loved ones, we collected in this book the prayers and the follow -up of the Orthodox Church about the deceased, complementing the general church followings and applicable in personal, domestic prayer use. The explanations and the application include all the rules that should be observed at the death of a person, his burial and commemoration, as well as information that helps to meaningfully perceive the words of prayers. The collection was compiled on the basis of the book of St. Athanasius (Sakharov; 1962) “The commemoration of the deceased according to the Charter of the Orthodox Church.”
