Pskovo-Pechersky elder Archimandrite Afinogen (Agapov) (in the Agapius schema)
136 years ago, in 1881, the Pskov-Pechersky Elder Afinogen (AGAPOV) (in the Agapius scheme) was born. The meek and quiet, with amazing patience, hoping to the only mercy of the Creator, transferred all the life of everyday tests, misfortunes and illnesses that had fallen to his lot, never grumbling and humbly carrying his life cross. In the most difficult years of life, during persecution of faith, being in prison, then in a concentration camp on the Belomorkanal, the father of Afinogen, working in completely inhuman conditions, then survived only by the grace of God. As the elder later noted in the cell notes of 1968-1971, "the Lord punishing me, but death is not to betray." And in prison and in the camp - everywhere the Lord guarded me from deaths. "
