Pygmalion

The collection includes three plays of Bernard Shaw. Among them are the most famous - Pygmalion (1912), according to which many films were shot and the legendary Broadway musical “My Beautiful Lady” was staged. The plot is based on an ancient Greek myth about how the sculptor tries to revive the beautiful statue he created. And the hero of the play of the show from a simple flower grinder, in 6 months, is trying to make a sophisticated aristocrat. “Pygmalion” is a mockery of fans of “blue blood”... Each my play was a stone that I threw through the windows of Victorian well -being, ”said the show. In 1977, the film-ballet with E. Maksimova and M. Liepa was staged on this play. Pygmalion and now successfully goes in theaters around the world. The publication also includes the play “Candida” (1895) - about that incomprehensible and mysterious, not amenable to rational explanation, for which the woman can love the man and “The dark -skinned lady of the Sonets” (1910) - a kind of staging of the hidden plot of Shakespearean sonnets.
