The book includes two famous plays of the outstanding George Bernard Show, the British playwright-innovator, the founder (along with Ibsen and Chekhov) of the XX century intellectual theater, the Nobel Prize in Literature and the Oscar Prize.
Pygmalion (1913) - the story of the London professor of phonetics Henry Higgins, who "created" a secular lady from the street flower grower, and at the same time the story of the flower grower of Eliza Dutlitl, which made Higgins see in it not just material for an interesting experiment, but a living person, - became the basis of the famous musical “My Beautiful Lady” (1956) and his Oscar -winning film adaptation (1964) with Rex Harrison and Audrey Hepburn in the main roles.
In the “House where Hearts break” (1913–1917) Bad a house-co-collapse, where guests lead continuous and fruitless disputes about love and meaning of life to the accompaniment of whistles and cries of the owner, sage and madman captain Schotover, Gradually grows into the symbolic image of the old world, which has entered a new century and standing on the threshold of death.
