“Winter of our anxiety” (1961) is the last novel by Steinbeck, incredibly modern and relevant, although its action takes place in the 60s in New England, in a fictitious small town. The main character is Ethan Allen Hawley, a descendant of a once -rich family, a veteran of the Second World War, an educated, decent and honest man, is in a difficult position.
