Red partisans in the east of Russia. 1918–1922: deviation, anarchy and terror. Teplyakov A.G.

Red partisans are one of the most mythologized participants in the civil war. The reality, captured in memoirs, reports of the White Guard headquarters and a newspaper chronicle, conflicts with the heroic image, which for a long time created Soviet propaganda. A. Teplyakov, in his study, shows how the radicalism of urban activists combined with the marginal elements of the village split in social cataclysms and gave rise to the phenomenon of partisanism as a pogrom movement. Based on numerous primary sources, the author of the book reveals the involvement of the partisans in class cleanings in villages and cities, which led to the deaths of tens of thousands of people, most of which belonged to the indigenous population of the eastern regions.
