Friedrich Gorenstein (1932–2002) - prose writer, playwright, film script ("Solaris", "Slave of Love"). Gorenstein’s prose was not printed in Soviet Russia at all, he gave the manuscripts to read only to the “neighboring circle”, in the late seventies foreign publications appeared. Yu. Inrifonov, A. Konchalovsky, A. Tarkovsky, B. Sarnov called him the novels “Place”, “Psalm”, “Atonement” by brilliant. He did not adjoin any movement and direction, did not find a place in any camp, and the classic has gained status during his lifetime. In 1980, the writer emigrated and died in 2002 in Berlin.
This collection included the story "Steps", first published in the Almanac "Metropol", and three works of the emigrant period: "Chok-Cchok", " A fly at a drop of tea ”and“ Red Dawn Street ”, which gave the name to the whole book. Dmitry Bykov called “Street...” “The author’s spiritual autobiography and the most lacrimal and painful text written with true Platonic power.”
The publication was released for the 90th anniversary of Friedrich Gorenstein.
