The novel of the famous writer, masters of modern prose by Leonid Beigin “Reflection of the room in the Christmas Ball” - about Moscow of the fifties and sixties. The author tells how they returned from the Stalinist camps, celebrated the New Year in Arbat communal services (a room was reflected in Christmas balls) and went to the country, how the last mystical circles disappeared and the first English schools appeared. The Moscow theme in the novel is connected with the biblical: the described time was marked by the signs of the apostles and the evangelists - Peter and Paul, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, whose images are also recreated in the novel.

The gold biblical thread in the fabric of the Bezhin story weaves him into the crowd of post -Bulgakovsky Russian prose. Matte muffled gamma relieves the feeling of plot variegation (although the action is branched). A calm, thoughtful, sympathetic look at people is related by a ruin with the classics of Russian psychological realism. (Lev Anninsky).
