The story of the life of one of the orphanages of the 20s of the 20th century - the School of Individual Social Education named after Dostoevsky, abbreviated as Skik, told by her pupils. This is a real school epic, in which the director, which is fond of pedagogical searches, abbreviated by the Schkikor, is trying to instill a colorful gathering for former street children, those to whom the fate was prepared by the fate of tramps, thieves, raiders, and almost lyceum traditions. So the school newspaper arises, then the coat of arms and anthem of the school, and then self -government - the republic (from where the title of the story later arose). And in this story, time was reflected with all clarity. Through the chronicle of the “Republic of Skid” with its small unrest and storms, the image of Petrograd of those harsh days appears.
