Anna Andreevna Akhmatova (1889-1966)-the largest poet of the twentieth century, translator and literary critic. She is considered the most outstanding poet of the Silver Age. Akhmatova considered poets I.F. Annensky and A.S. Pushkin. During her long life, Anna Akhmatova survived two revolutions and two world wars, learned on herself what Stalin's repressions and the death of the most dear people are. One of the most significant works by Akhmatova-“Requiem” (1934-1963)-was originally written as a lyrical cycle, but during the work was renamed the poem. Poems from the cycle during life were published only by samizdat and abroad. In Russia, the full text of the “Requiem” was first published only in 1987.

In addition to the poem, this collection includes significant poems by the poetess from the collections of “Roalr” (1914), “White flock” (1917), “ Plantain ”(1921),“ Anno Domini McMxxi ”(1923),“ reed ”(1930), as well as poems that were not part of individual books of the author. Due to the fact that since the 1930s, Anna Akhmatova was criticized, silent, persecution and hard censorship, many of her creations were not published at home even several decades after the death of the author. In 1965 and 1966, Akhmatova A.A. nominated for the Nobel Prize in literature.
