“Resurrection” is the last Tolstoy novel, the spiritual and creative searches of the last years of the writer’s life were reflected in it. Started in 1889, the novel was completed and saw the light only after 10 years - in 1899. In the Russian press, many scenes and even chapters were prohibited from publication. The Roman "Resurrection" was among those works of Tolstoy, because of which he was excommunicated. Today the novel is read differently.
