Return and upper guttural nerves. Remolf G.U.
The book was written by a large team of specialists in the field of thyroid surgery (SHG) and reflects new achievements in the technique of operations that was developed “up to the smallest detail” on this anatomically complex and important physiological organ. We are talking about the method of intraoperative neuromonitoring (Ionm) of the functions of the laryngeal nerves, which not only was a significant improvement in operations technique, but also changed the approach to the preparation of patients for surgery and the methodology of maintaining them in the postoperative period; It caused the need to perform laryngoscopy before the operation, and parts of the patients are also ultrasound, CT and MRI.
The publication describes the features of the research methods in relation to the thyroid gland in terms of the upcoming intervention on it. Of considerable interest is the clinical anatomy of the puppy considered in the New World and the description of the anatomy of the return nerves, especially the outer branch of the upper laryngeal nerve, which has been distinguished by its novelty, which until recently paid enough attention. The description is very detailed, reinforced by remarkable schemes and photographs taken during operations. The technique of ionm, its types (constant and alternating) methods of monitoring the integrity of the laryngeal nerves: visual observation, electromyography, as well as registration of the potentials of the laryngeal muscles using electrodes integrated into the intubation tube.
, the use of Ionm, elevates the thyroid surgery. glands to a new level, it makes it possible to protect the operations carried out on it and, most importantly, to surgeons that have not yet have sufficient experience or perform these operations relatively rarely, because according to data given by the authors, to the share of less than twenty such Operations on the thyroid gland per year, there are approximately 75% of all operations on the thyroid gland. Knowledge of anatomy at the level presented in the book is also important from a medical and legal point of view, as it will reduce the number of annoying cases when the surgeon has to act as a defendant for claims filed by patients who suffered from damage to the laryngeal nerves.
The book will serve as a source of new knowledge about the thyroid gland to anatomists, surgeons, related specialties involved in the treatment of puppy diseases
