Return to the region of God. Kerwood J.O.
The writer and poet James Oliver Kerwood (1878-1927) is known to our readers mainly as a naturalist who wrote the novels and stories about animals for children. Meanwhile, he wrote many novels, stories and stories for adults, where he sang not only the nature of the northern states of the United States and Canada, but also people who lived and worked in the American North in the 19th - early 20th centuries: trappers, pioneers, and royal horse police officers , sailors, refiner, lumberjacks, Indians and aleuts. In this regard, he can rightfully be called the predecessor of Jack London. This is confirmed by the work of the stories included in this volume, “Return to the Land of God” and the novel “A Woman from the Country of God God”
In the collection of stories “Return to the Land of God”, the geography of action extends from the Far North of Alaska to river and Mining of the Eastern and Central Canada, from a sailing ship drifting in the ice to a river race on a canoe, where a prize is a girl's hand. Heroes perform justice in the edges, where the hand of the law does not reach, miraculously avoid death from the cold in the depths of the forest, overcome hellish sulfuric swamps in search of missing gold miners.
