Rev. Maxim the Confessor and Byzantine Theology. Epifanovich Sergey Leontyevich
This work of the outstanding Russian patrologist Sergei Leontyevich Epifanovich (1886-1918), professor of the Kyiv Theological Academy, “Monk in the World”, as contemporaries called him, is an extraction, a certain quintessence, from his unusable master's dissertation about the Rev. Maximus Confessor. Such extracts were made by himself in view of the circumstances of the “Time of Troubles” with the aim of at least a partial publication of labor, which became the main thing of the short life of this wonderful theologian. The seriousness and maturity of the theological and philosophical thought of this work, its integrity and the consonance of the patristic thought, despite the duration of the past tense, make it modern and enduring in the transfer of the universal word of St. Maxim-perhaps more other holy fathers of the system of the Church who verbalized God about God about God , man and peace.
