Revections of a large war. Müller J.
How did the experience of the 20th century change our perception of war? Will large -scale armed conflicts disappear over time? What are the wars of the 21st century and are there any effective ways to prevent them?
John Müller in his book turns to the history of war in order to justify at first glance a paradoxical conclusion: war as a political instrument is rapidly obsolete. The author considers the First and Second World Wars as a turning point in history, when the European community came to the realization that war is no longer inevitable and necessary phenomenon of social life. This is a new attitude to interstate conflicts - along with other factors, including economic ones - prompted developed countries to avoid them. According to Muller, the complete disappearance of the war and its transition to the category of obsolete institutions (like duels or slavery) is quite possible, however, serious international efforts and competent governments are needed for this.
