The attention of readers is proposed to the book of outstanding theorist and practice in the field of hippology and equestrian sports, the rider and organizer of circus affairs Viktor Franconi (1811–1897), in which he outlined his significant experience in the art of riding. The book in an accessible form presents the basic rules of riding, the horses control techniques are considered: stopping, turning, upset, side movements, driving various alluras; The question of the correct handling of the horse and maintaining her health will be affected, attention is paid to the exit of the “norceous” horses, and the horses are briefly described. The application, which was added when translating the book into Russian, placed a brief presentation of the methods of landing on the horse and converging from it, the basic rules of style and field driving are given, and some features of female riding are also considered.
