In 1930, the picture book “River”, invented and drawn by the student of Petrov-Vodkin Elena Safonova, went into the year. Trees, houses and characters located at the very horizon, here almost did not differ the size of those that were closer to the viewer. In other words, there was no prospect, and this made a book similar to a card or children's drawings. And the laconic gamut reminded of the mentor of Safonova. Petrov-Vodkin believed that it was necessary to work with only three colors red, yellow and blue (or green). In 1935, the second edition of the River was released, completely different. During this time, an aesthetic course changed in the USSR, experiments were no longer welcomed. For example, Daniil Harms was arrested and sent to Kursk for several months for not enough “Soviet” poems for children. Friends of the poet Alexander Vvedensky and Elena Safonova went to the same link. Two editions of the "River" documents of two Soviet eras.
