Rotting sorcerer. The killed poet. Apolliner G.
Guillaume Apolliner (1880–1918) - a French writer and poet, whose work summed up the classical period of French literature and had a deep impact on the formation of the aesthetics of the European avant -garde. The present publication includes two prose works of the author, reflecting his innovative poetics. The parable of the Rotting Wizard (1909) is the first experience of Apolliner-Prose-proof. Transforming the genre of medieval mysteries and dialogues, the writer creates a kind of “philosophical drama”, in which the “Celtic depths of tradition” are filled with new topics and interpretations. The adventurous adventure story “The Murdered Poet” (1916) in a grotesque-parody form demonstrates the life and customs of the modern Apollinera of society. In the center of both works is the fate of a poet living, like an ancient Greek Orpheus, on the verge of real and other worlds.
