Round table. Paris P.

Breton legends about King Arthur, the knights of the round table and the search for the Holy Grail and the French knightly novels created on their basis are almost not familiar to the Russian reader, although they are much older and more diverse than our English version of Arturian. The transfer was made according to the publication of the famous medievist of the 19th century, the keeper of the manuscript department of the French National Library Prof. P. Parisa: “The romance of the round table, shifted into the modern language by Polent Paris and accompanied by research of the origin and features of these great works.”

The book includes four works that clearly show how the genre of a social novel gradually grows out of the biblical Apocryphus. This is the prosaic arrangement of Robert de harin, “Joseph Arimafei” (end of the 12th century), the even earlier legend “Founding the Grail book”, the novel “Holy Grail” (one of the first examples of the European “Fent -Tale”) and already quite a classic knightly novel "King Arthur."
