The book on a rich illustrative material (more than 5000 examples) analyzes the features of the formation and functioning of the Runet language. The main problem of interest to the author is the updating of the language system, primarily vocabulary, in connection with the appearance of a new sphere of human activity at the end of the 20th century. The first three chapters investigate the neological processes that occur directly in the language of the Internet space: the verbalization of key ideas and concepts of this sphere, the nomination of virtual analogues of the realities of the objective world, semantic transformations of words in the new conditions of communication. As an environment of neologize the Runet language, electronic speech is considered in its specific manifestations in the field of graphics, vocabulary, grammar, word production. Two other chapters are devoted to traditional discourse (oral conversational speech, advertising, journalistic and artistic text), in which the Runet language, going beyond the limits of their environment that gave rise to them, receive an additional load and become an incentive for new linguistic changes. The book is intended for specialists in the field of linguistics who study active processes in the Russian language of the latest period, as well as for all those interested in the language of the IT sphere.
