Russia as a fate. Kantor V.K.

In his book, Vladimir Kantor, a writer, doctor of philosophical sciences, professor of the National Research University “Higher School of Economics”, considers one of the most important cultural fislosophical problems of the prevailing negative attitude of the West to Russia, although Russian writers and poets constantly emphasized our Europeanism, said about Russia as "Second Europe" (Tyutchev). Russia gave its Homer and its Iliad (the “war and the world” of Leo Tolstoy), as well as the writer, the scale and depth comparable to the Bible (as Gadamer wrote, there are two great texts - the Bible and Dostoevsky).

At the beginning of the 20th century, the country economically caught up with Europe, and in culture it became essentially a legislator: Chekhov, Bunin, Merezhkovsky, Russian music, Russian painting, Diaghilev salons, etc. All this was brought down by the World War I started by the West. The author’s task is to keep the real meaning of Russian culture as much as possible.
