Sergey Babayan is known to readers primarily as the author of the historical novel about the Civil War “Coatmister of Nezhets”, the story “Mamaevo Battle” and the collection of modern prose “My Wine”. He defined his new book “Russian America” as “Romanical Least”. Byl - because the events of this book really took place at the end of the XVIII - early XIX centuries and were described by the famous navigator Captain -Commander V.M. Golovnin, as well as numerous eyewitnesses - sailors, clergymen, scientists, civilian and military ranks. The historical picture transfers the reader to the tragic, criminal and heroic period of the Russian colonization of the North-West of America, when several hundred Russian men tried to stay on a thousand miles of the primitive coast, inhabited by the warlike tribes of the Tolinkites. And “romance” - because in the book, of course, the author’s fiction is widely used, without which a work of art is impossible. But all the movements of the human soul in the novel - love and hatred, greed and disinterestedness, cowardice and courage - can not be attributed to a pure fiction, because without them it would be the fiction of life itself.
