Daniil Lukich Mordovtsev (1830 - 1905) - Russian writer, historian and publicist, one of the most read authors in Russia of the XIX century, whose works successfully combine entertaining and reliability. His historical studies had a success among contemporaries, comparable to the “history of the Russian state” Nikolai Mikhailovich Karamzin, and in wide reader circles the writer had the glory of “Walter Scott of the Domestic Parnas”.

The main work of D. L. is published in the book Mordovtseva is a monograph “Russian Historical Women”, representing the gallery of portraits of outstanding Russian women from the time of “pre -Petrine Rus'” until the end of the 18th century.
