Russian infinitive poetry of the XVIII - XX centuries. Anthology. Comp. Zholkovsky A.K.

Infinitive poetry, by the definition of A.K. Zholkovsky, are poems written in an uncertain inclination (how to “sinlessly, unforgettable...” A. A. Blok) and dedicated to a typical lyrical topic: Reflections on virtual albeit. Before us is the first in its way anthology, which is close to such meetings as the “Russian epigram”, “Russian epitaph” or “Russian sonnet”, but differs from them more formal-poetical-syntactic-the principle of selection.

Anthology included more than three hundred samples of infinitive poetry, from Trediakovsky to the classics of the last century, and in the comments to them are similar fragments from other works of the same authors, as well as foreign sources and parallels. To describe infinitive passages of different lengths and syntactic structure in the comments, a specially designed description system is used, based on the concepts of “grammar poetry” by R. Jacobson and the “semantic halo” of K. Taranovsky - M. Gasparova.
