Russian Islam

The book considers the connection of Russian Islam as a special sociocultural phenomenon with its place in the “Cultural Canon” that dominates today in Russia. The author proves that the fate of this phenomenon depends on the ability of the Muslims of Russia to reduce the “cultural canon”, which involves the formation of Russian Islam as a full -fledged actor. The acquisition of subjectivity, which is determined by the ability to creatively revise the dominant identification discourses, is the political act of Par Excellence. The author does not reduce the “political” to party activity or administrative practice. Rather, “political” arises as a response to an established policy (including in the field of culture) from the subject who manages to achieve recognition as a unique carrier of will and responsibility.
