The monograph telling about the situation of the Russian language outside of Russia is prepared by a team of authors from nine countries. Its sections describe the functioning of the Russian language in Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Canada and China. The historical, cultural and social prerequisites for the current language situation are revealed, the modern status of the Russian language in each country and its real use are determined. The features of the regional version of the Russian language and its interaction with other languages ​​in this area are also analyzed.
