Russian monasticism and mission. Alexy
In the millennial history of Russian Christianity, the cultural and civilizational role of monasticism is obvious and undeniable. However, in the domestic theological and historical thought, the perception of monastic life was established, primarily, as contemplative, far from missionary. The ideas about the “missionary inherentity” of ascetic life are common in church circles and in monasticism itself. This is precisely what prompted the author to undertake this study, in which well -known historical facts are considered from a radically different, mission point of view, as a result of which they appear in a new light. The fundamental thesis of the author lies in the fact that the monk’s path to spiritual perfection, to the conciliation has missionary significance, and only based on this can you really understand the mission of monasticism.
The book is intended for all those who are interested in theological problems in the field of the Christian mission, as well as the widest circle of readers.
