Saint Filaret Kyiv and Optinsky Skit: Collection

A real collection dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the John-Baptist Signature under the Optina Desert consists of three parts. In the first part, the reader’s attention is presented by the monk Lazar (Afanasyev) the biography of the outstanding hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church of the St. Kyiv Filaret (Amphitheatrov), on the initiative and blessing of which the monastery was founded. The second part contains a historical description of the monastery, compiled by Archimandrite Leonid (Cavelin), a famous church historian and writer, pupil of St. Macarius, the elder of Optinsky. The third part gives the letters of St. Filaret in Optina Deserts, as well as letters to him of the Optina rector Archimandrite Moses and the Monk Elder Macarius, - live evidence of the tireless care of the monastery and many years of spiritual connection of the Lord with Optina and her inhabitants.
