The history of Soviet foreign intelligence is interesting not only with events, but also by the fate of those who faithfully and devoted to it for many years. Recently, the names of a number of outstanding Soviet Chekists have become known, thanks to the selfless work of which the Great Soviet Empire was created. One of them was Colonel General Alexander Mikhailovich Sakharovsky, a man who gave his whole life to work in state security bodies. For sixteen years, he headed Soviet external intelligence, and will not be an exaggeration to say that these were its stellar years. Under the leadership of Sakharovsky, a team of outstanding Chekist intelligence officers who did not know equal in the world was formed. The book “Sakharovsky” was the last of Vladimir Sergeyevich Antonov, the famous historian of the special services, writer and journalist devoted his life to the preservation and increase in historical memory of legendary employees and brilliant operations of domestic foreign intelligence. He died in May of this year in Moscow. The book is available on the 100th anniversary of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service.
