Saranchi Day. West N.
Nathanael West is a bright representative of the American “lost generation” (along with authors such as Ernest Hemingway, Thomas Wolf, John Dos Passos and Francis Scott Fitzgerald, with whom Nathanael West was very friendly). Like many literary geniuses of the twentieth century, Nathanael West gained wide fame only after death, when in 1957 a complete collection of his works was published, and critics proclaimed him one of the greatest American writers.
In the novel “Locus Day”, included by the magazine “Time” in the list of one hundred best English -speaking novels, the love story of a young artist working in Hollywood and a girl who dreams of a career of the artist is told. According to Dashil Hammet, the novel shows "genuine Hollywood, which it was necessary to write about."
The protagonist of the novel "Girlfriend of the Sorrowing" leads a small column on the pages of the New York newspaper; Responding to letters of readers disappointed in love, he involuntarily turns out to be drawn into their ordinary, sad lives.
