Satyricon. Petronius
Petronius Arbiter (c. 14 - 66) is the author of the ancient Roman novel “Satyricon”, usually identified with Senator Petronius, about which Tacitus wrote.
“Satyricon” of Petronia, which is one of the most original works of the ancient literature of the first century of the Roman Empire, reached us in a fragmentary form in medieval manuscripts.
in terms of its content, this essay is an acute adventurous-satirical novel, consisting of many separate worldly scenes, in which the funny adventures of three friends and dirty stories that took place with them on the streets and areas of the ancient Rome.
The novel is widely shown the household, “low” life of ordinary people, ignorant and superstitious, with a limited horizons, gross tastes, but not without practical ingenuity.
