Schleswig Holstein wars. Golts K.
Few know about Schleswig-Holstein problem today. Fans of history will recall at best the war of Austria and Prussia against Denmark of 1864 - the first of the three "wars of Bismarck for the unification of Germany." But in the middle of the 19th century, Schleswig-Holstein question was one of the key problems of European diplomacy. He caused a headache in the diplomats from London to St. Petersburg, from Vienna to Stockholm and more than once threatened to turn into a large war between the great powers. It took more than one decade and an exceptionally favorable international situation.
Schleswig -Holstein conflict was interesting and for another reason - as one of the early examples of the struggle between the principle of the territorial integrity of the state and the right of nations to self -determination. This problem does not lose its relevance today.
After the Gordiev knot was cut, Schleswig-Holstein question quickly found himself in the shadow of larger events-the German war of 1866, the Franco-German war of 1870-1871 , unification of Germany... Maybe that's why there are practically no books on Russian in Russian. The presented work is designed to make up for this gap. Its author is a famous German military theorist and military leader of the late XIX - early XX centuries Kolmar von der Golts; The figure is so curious that it deserves a separate book.
