Sea stories. Zhitkov B.S.

Boris Stepanovich Zhitkov (1882-1938)-a famous children's writer, teacher and traveler. The future writer spent his childhood in Odessa, in the gymnasium years became friends with K.I. Chukovsky. After graduating from the Imperial Novorossiysk University (1906), B.S. Zhitkov could not find a job for a long time. One acquaintance advised him to become a sailor, and Boris decided to test himself and went to sea several times; Soon after, he passed the exam for the navigator of sailing ships.

at the age of 27, the future writer was appointed captain of the research vessel, and at 30 he was lucky to become a participant in a trip around the world and visit India, Japan, China. He wrote mainly for children: he told them about the sea and the countries that he visited, about animals, about different professions and, of course, about people who honestly do their job every day, sometimes risking their lives. Boris Stepanovich Zhitkov wrote many adventure stories and stories (“Sea stories”, “Stories about animals”, “What I saw”, “What happened”).
