Annual vegetable and decorative plant. The period from seedlings to cleaning 38-40 days. The rosette of the leaves is erect, with a height of 30 cm, densely, weighing 200 g. Young leaves are large, emerald green, pubescent, smell of fresh cucumber, their taste refreshing, resembles cucumbers with a gear of onions. Green mass yield 3.5 kg/sq.m. From the first spring months, it can be used in cooking: they are added to vinaigrettes, salads, sauces (mustard, tomato, sour cream), side dish, okroshka, cold vegetable soups and borscht. Borago is also used as a medicinal plant: the leaves contain carotene, ascorbic acid, trace elements, especially potassium, organic acids (apple, citric and others). Great honey plant: gives light honey. The plant is drought -resistant, cold -resistant, grows well in partial shade. Sowing is carried out in the winter, before the onset of stable frosts, or in the spring (April-May), to a depth of 1.5-2 cm. Enches appear on 10-12 days. To regularly obtain young greenery, crops are carried out in several terms. In the phase of one real sheet, the shoots are thinned out, leaving the distance between plants 15-20 cm. They are grown on light, not sour, well-moistened soils. It responds well to moderate nitrogen top dressing during the growing season. Plants are rarely affected by diseases and are almost not affected by pests.
