Selected letters: 1854-1891. Leontyev K.
works of a Russian writer, publicist, philosopher Konstantin Leontyev (1831-1891) are widely known in Russia and abroad. With the epistolary heritage of this interesting author, the reader is practically not familiar. With the exception of a small collection, published in Paris in the 1950s, his correspondence was never published separately.
Meanwhile, letters give the most vivid and meaningful idea of his worldview, since it is openly in them, without resorting To internal censorship, expressed his original (for contemporaries sometimes - shocking original) judgments and views.
The publication includes excerpts from letters that are most significant for the reconstruction of the psychological portrait of Konstantin Leontiev and the picture of his life. Among them are the messages to A.A. Fetu, Prosper Merima, V.V. Rozanov, I.S. Aksakov, N.P. Ignatieva, Leontiev’s letters to his young admirers - in fact, microtrackers reflecting the author’s worldview at the very end of his life. The meeting of letters included in this book can be called a kind of autobiography of an outstanding thinker.
The publication was compiled and prepared by a wonderful St. Petersburg historian, literary critic, translator D.V. Solovyov.
