Mikhail Ivanovich Venyukov (1832-1901)-Major General of the Russian Army. The concept of Russia, as an empire with extensive possessions and a key role in world politics, is largely developed and justified in the works of Mikhail Venyukov. One of the founders of Russian geopolitics calling to develop on the outskirts of the Russian Element, it was also an outstanding geographer and intelligence officer. Venyukov not only substantiated the territorial acquisitions of Russia in Central Asia, but also criticized the authorities for the unreasonable development of new territories and the outskirts of the empire.
