The textbook contains a systematic presentation of the main provisions of the semiotics of culture - disciplines, which had an exceptional impact on the development of world humanities in the second half of the 20th century. The general problems of the semiotics are considered - the definition and structure of the sign, primary and secondary iconic relationships, the semiosis and mimesis - as well as a number of specific sign systems, most often affected in the study of literature (language and literature, visual systems, narration, semiotic aspects of behavior and monetary circulation , the general structure of sign culture). The ideas of the leading theorists of the semiotics - Roland Bart, Umberto Eco, Yuri Lotman and others are presented. The theoretical presentation is accompanied by numerous examples, mainly taken from the language, fiction and other arts.
