Senior Edda. Songs about the gods are retelling I. Blesshov. Budashev I., retelling

In front of you is the first and so far the only prosaic arrangement of the famous Scandinavian epic "Elder Edda", made by the famous writer Ilya Brazhashov. Now this literary monument, which until recently, was of interest exclusively for specialists, has gone beyond the academic circle and has become available to the widest audience. "Elder Edda" stands on a par with such epics as "Iliad" and "Mahabharata". Despite the fact that Edda has reached our time in the form of disparate parts, her “Songs of Gods” and “Songs of Heroes” played a tremendous role in the development of Western European literature. The epic is in demand today - it is enough to turn to the work of such popular writers as John Tolkien and George Martin to make sure of this. It is thanks to Edda that modern fiction includes such creatures as elves, gnomes, trolls, kobolds and the gods of Asgard.
