The textbook contains a theoretical course on the Geriatrian section “Nursing care for elderly patients” and is compiled in accordance with the requirements of the new Federal State Educational Standard of Secondary Professional Education in the specialty 34.02.01 “Nursing”.

The whole Theoretical material is divided into sections according to the anatomical principle in which the professional and general competencies of nurses are concluded, necessary for the provision of aid to patients of the older age group for diseases of the relevant organs. The topics of the theoretical block also include a list of basic concepts and terms, control issues for self -testing of knowledge.

The textbook describes the versatile activity of a nurse in departments with a geriatric bias: therapeutic, pulmonological, cardiological, gastroenterological, urological, nephrological, trauma, trauma. The clinical features of each of the pathologies under consideration are set out in the elderly and senile people in comparison with the classic versions of these diseases in patients of young and middle age. The text is complemented by numerous illustrations, tables and schemes, which simplifies the perception of information.
