Sheikh Mansur is one of the key figures in the North Caucasian history of the second half of the XVIII century. To date, documents on his activities have not been published in full. The materials included in the collection from the funds of the Central State Archive of the Republic of Dagestan and the Central Historical Archive of Georgia make up for this gap and cover not only the Russian-Chechen relations of the late XVIII century, but also in general the situation in the North Caucasus region.

The documents of the “lower” level of correspondence regarding Sheikh Mansur and his activities are especially valuable and interesting for research. They draw events with the language of facts, not victorious relations.
