Siberian haiku. Vile Yurg
“Siberian Hike” is a graphic novel about a deported Lithuanian family, in which we can find a reflection of thousands of other family stories of the 20th century.
“I am Algis, but more often I am called Algyukas. I always dreamed of traveling. That's just it happened not at all the way I imagined. At dawn on June 14, 1941, soldiers burst into our house and ordered to gather on the road. Leaving our native Lithuania, we did not know that hard work, hunger and angry biting parasites in a cold hut - our new house in Siberia were waiting for us. How will our life be here? Dad taught us to notice the miracles of the world, to support each other. And we try: we organize the “apples” choir, learn to play musical instruments and even fall in love. And we do not cease to hope for returning home. "
